I have three things I’d like to say today. First, while you were sleeping last night, 30,000 kids died of starvation or diseases related to malnutrition. Second, most of you don’t give a shit. What’s worse is that you’re more upset with the fact that I said shit than the fact that 30,000 kids died last night.

Tony Campolo, associate pastor of Mount Carmel Baptist Church (via sinfreed)
1. 150,000 people die every day without knowing Jesus. that is considerably more devastating to think about than people dying because they had no food. not to diminish the fact that people are suffering because of famine, but i hope you see my point.
2. cursing is absolutely unnecessary and is commanded NOT to do in the bible, regardless of your reasoning for it. james 3:9-10, ephesians 4:29, colossians 3:8. trying to be “radical” and appeal to people in a worldly manner in order to get them to act for a cause is absolute fail. you cannot be a friend of God and a friend of the world. (james 4:4) if you are leading God’s people and leading them astray with your words, you will certainly be judged more harshly. (james 3:1)
3. i believe in preaching the gospel COMBINED with helping the needy! NOT ONLY one OR the other at a given time.
are you more concerned about using the “liberal” “shock factor” to get people to follow your watered down, works-based christianity, or do you actually desire to live out the gospel in EVERY way? are you grounded in SCRIPTURE alone? do you care about telling those children about Jesus as you feed them? you can do good works all day long from here to the moon, but if you do not tell anyone that they need to be saved through Christ alone, you are not doing your job as a christian.
and that is my two cents. this blog is based upon this quote alone and not anything else. if there is more to this quote in which this pastor actually talks about salvation and repenting and preaching the gospel, someone please fill me in.
